Mobile App Features

Play, prepare and connect when on the go with our iOS and Android apps. Whether you're on a mobile app, or using the web browser, connect across apps and play together - at home or away.

At the bottom of the app is a navigation bar. There you will find a navigation item for Campaigns, Characters, the Assistant (Pro feature), Library and Settings.

Campaigns

You can view all the campaigns you are currently apart of. By clicking the campaign you want to view or play, you will be taken to the landing page for the campaign.

At the top of the landing page for the campaign, you can use the Invite button to invite new players to the game, and the ellipsis to access additional options. These include Campaign settings (where you can change the system, add templates, enable session stories or delete the campaign), change cover image, duplicate campaign, add character, report or delete the campaign.

By clicking Members, and navigating to a player, you can also remove players by long pressing and clicking remove player.

From the landing page, you can click the Go to Session button to join the game.

At this point the navigation bar changes to the Session Navigation bar and stays with you as long as you are in a session.

Session Toolbars

When joining session, you have an additional bar above the Navigation Bar., the Session Toolbar.

First in the bar is the ability to toggle if you are in the voice chat by clicking the headphones. Grey means you are not in Voice Chat, and green means you are. Once in voice chat, you can toggle your microphone on and off by clicking the microphone - red indicates off and green means your mic is on.

At the end of the bar you will also see an icon in blue. clicking that brings up the other options for the Session toolbar. Clicking an icon in the bar takes you to the tool's options. Clicking the same icon again returns you to the Session Tools. From left to right the Session Tools are:

Fog of War (cloud icon): If you are the GM, you will see this option. Clicking the icon takes you to the Fog of War tools. Delete All fog, Square Fog, Polygon Fog and View as Player. Finally a toggle slider to either add or remove fog (green to add/red to remove). See Fog of War for more details.
Grid (9 squares in a square icon): If you are the GM, you will see this option. Clicking the icon takes you to the Grid tools. Transparency setting for the grid overlay, Set grid measurement, set snap or free move of tokens. See Grid Tool for more details.
Draw (Circle and square icon): All can see this option. Erase individual drawings, Outline of triangle, circle square, filled in triangle, circle, square, line, free hand, select, color options. See Drawing Tool for more details. Additionally, a GM will also see a trash bin icon to remove all drawings from a scene.
Measure (Ruler icon): Toggle show to others. See Measure, Select and Move for more details.
Select (Square outline and pointer icon): Use to select icons and drawings.
Move (4 pointed cross icon): Move around the view of the scene.

To zoom in, touch at two points on the screen and slide them apart. To zoom out, touch at two points on the screen and slide them together.

The navigation now gives you the following options:

Sheets - your character for this session will be here. By clicking the avatar in the bottom right you can switch between character sheets within this session. See Characters on Mobile below for more information.
Assistant - See the Assistant entry below for more information.
Dice - click to determine how many of each type of die you wish to roll, or create a Formula.
Notes - Notes has the same Editor as on the web and as the Character sheets. All your private and campaign notes are available here and can be edited with the same options of tables, roll buttons etc as on the web app.
Chat - See all the communications within your party - from gifs to roll notifications. If you are the GM, you will also see three dots in the top right of the chat drawer, which allows you to clear chat.
Token - Add the token's associated with the campaign by going to session, opening the token drawer, and tapping on the token to add to the currently viewed scene.

To return to the battle map if a navigation option is covering it, swipe it back down into the bar.

Characters on Mobile

Clicking the Character in the navigation bar show you a list of all your characters. We support viewing your universal character sheets and your enhanced character sheets (Call of Cthulhu) on your mobile.

The character list has a sort and filter functionality:

Characters can be sorted by their name or when they were created.
Search by name.
Show All, Claimable characters, characters in a campaign and characters not in a campaign.

Viewing universal character sheets on mobile

When you open a universal character sheet on mobile you can view its contents, navigate between tabs (or pages) in the sheet, click on roll buttons to roll dice and make edits.

Editing your sheet works just like in the web app. The sheets are an editor that allows you to create elements like headings, and paragraphs, insert images, hide tabs, create tables and checklists, add roll buttons and more. Furthermore, you can change the name of the character and the tagline.

Viewing enhanced character sheets on mobile

Our Call of Cthulhu character sheet was the first enhanced character sheet we released. It differs from our universal sheets in that it has unique UI elements (styled buttons) and comes preloaded with options to choose from.

The functionality on enhanced sheets is the same. You can view content, navigate between tabs, roll dice and edit. There are a few differences in the interactions that are noteworthy.

Viewing Templates on Mobile

Going into your Characters Tab, you'll see two tabs at the top: Characters and Templates. Characters contains all the characters you have made or claimed. Templates contains all the Featured Templates that Quest Portal have created. (A full list can be found hereWhat games do you support?) By using the filters option, you'll be able to navigate between those shared with you, ones you have created yourself and ones shared with you.

Functionality

First, you can long press to bring up a menu to roll with penalty/bonus die or to roll against a specific challenge (regular, hard, extreme) and edit that button's values.

Second, the "manage" buttons show a modal to edit multiple values in the same section. This is quite handy to make changes to your skills in bulk.

Third, using the manage dialog you can also bring preloaded content onto your sheet. Weapons are a good example of that.

Finally, if you want to take notes there is always the Notes tab. You will find the editing experience similar to the universal character sheets.

Creating Characters on Mobile

You can hit the plus icon from the character list to create a new character. From the menu select if you want a universal sheet or enhanced Call of Cthulhu 7e character sheet.

When you create a new universal character sheet it will be blank. You can start writing out your backstory or create other character sheet elements.

Avatars

When you open a character outside of a campaign, you will see an option at the bottom of the screen called Avatar. Clicking this will take you to a new menu, where you have the option of using one of our premade avatars, or you can click the Picture icon to upload from your phone, or use an image already uploaded in this way.

If you are a Pro subscriber, you are also able to use the AI Avatar Creator.

The Assistant

Your Quest Portal Assistant operates the same as it does on the web app. You can switch threads at the top with the drop down menu and create new threads with the + button.

Library

Your Library syncs across all versions of the app, so if you have Chaosium Core subscription, it will appear here along with all the other books that you have access to. You can open any book from here.
