Game Master Assistant

A built-in co-pilot for your Quest Portal campaigns. It answers rules questions, drafts scenes and NPCs, helps you map locations, and ties everything back into your campaign so you can focus on running the table.

The Game Master Assistant is an intelligent chatbot that can help you quickly draft ideas, encounters, backstories and place descriptions. Additionally, the GM Assistant can answer questions about the rules, lore, or just about anything you put into your Campaign Library

The Game Master Assistant can create Scenes, Notes, Characters and Art for you as directed. Through our PDFs import and upload features you can give it access to your legally purchased books from other vendors (in addition to the sources you can purchase from the Quest Portal Marketplace) that allows it to better assist you in setting up the resources you need to run your games.

You can ask the Game Master Assistant to perform a wide variety of tasks in your game, use @ to reference different Notes and Sheets for it to ingest and work on and do almost all the things you can perform yourself as a game master.

We recommend that you start a new thread for each topic as it helps the assistant to stay focused on the task and hand and prevents it from forgetting an earlier context.

Make sure to configure your campaign to use the Game System you're playing by going to Campaign Settings and selecting a TTRPG. if you're unsure how to do this, then refer to Campaigns for guidance.

When out of session, the AI Assistant can be accessed through the navigation ribbon on the left and selecting the stars. From here you can easily switch between all threads created on the web app.

In session, the Assistant can be accessed through the navigation ribbon on the right. This Assistant will pull data about the system that the session campaign you are in has been set to. Each answer will also show the relevant library book pages that the answer used. These are clickable links that take you to the book.

If you do not own or have access to the book referenced, you will be prompted to go to the Marketplace and add the free book, or purchase the premium content.

Pop Out and Adjust Width

Your Campaign's AI Assistant conversation can be popped out as a new window. When in a Campaign, move the cursor over the Assistant option, right click, then choose New Window.

The drawer for Assistant can be adjusted by click dragging on the edge of the drawer.

Generating images

You can ask for image size and framing directly in your prompt, like 1K (default if you don't specify), 2K, 4K, portrait, landscape, square, bust, half body, full body, or wide scene.

If you @ mention a character, the assistant can use that character’s existing avatar as a visual reference to keep the result consistent.

After an image is generated, you can upscale assistant-generated images to 4K.

Assistant Model Selector

The Assistant model selector lets you choose how much power, speed, and cost you want for a conversation.

Use a stronger model when you want the best possible answer. Use a lighter model when you want something faster or cheaper for straightforward work.

Where to find it

Open the model dropdown in the Assistant chat input.

• New threads start on Best Overall by default.

• You can switch models at any time.

• Your next message uses the model you currently have selected.

Gemini 3.1 Pro is the current default Assistant model and has been before this feature launched. So to base the cost of credits on the model picked you can expect:

• Gemini 3.1 Pro (Best Overall) to remain at the same credit cost for same tasks.

• Gemini 3 Flash (Rich + Fast) to use 1/4 the credits of 3.1 Pro*.

• Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite to use 1/8 of the credits of 3.1 Pro*.

• Gemini 2.5 Flash to use 1/5-1/6 of the credits of 3.1 Pro*.

* Image generation tasks are still handled by Nano Banana Pro, so the credit usage per image will remain the same.

Model FAQ

Does this affect the whole app?

No. The selection is saved for the current Assistant thread. It does not affect

Can I change models in the middle of a conversation?

Yes. Your next message will use the newly selected model.

Why did the answer quality change?

Each model makes a different tradeoff between quality, speed, and cost. If a lighter model feels too weak, switch up to Best Value or Best Overall.

Will this always lower the total cost of a request?

Not always. Some requests may also use tools or other features that have their own costs. The selector mainly changes the Assistant model used for the thread.
